From Vision to Possibility: Jim Best Speaks to Fiduciarios (Trustees) About Education’s Next Chapter

At a recent gathering hosted by the Fundación Educativa Guatemala (FEG), TheLeaderNetwork's Co-Founder Jim Best delivered a keynote address titled “Go Like Hell: Leadership and Possibility in a Time of Change.” The presentation served as an opening reflection as FEG and Inter School begin the process of developing a new strategic plan for the future of the institution. Addressing the school’s Fiduciarios — the organization’s board members and leaders — Jim reflected on the bold vision that originally shaped the school fifty years ago and explored what thoughtful, future-oriented leadership requires in a rapidly changing world.

Drawing inspiration from the film Ford v Ferrari, the keynote challenged educational leaders to resist paralysis and nostalgia, and instead embrace adaptability, experimentation, and human-centered leadership. Jim emphasized that the future of education will depend not simply on technological innovation, but on cultivating distinctly human capacities such as creativity, ethics, resilience, empathy, discernment, and collaboration.

The address invited everyone to consider what new educational opportunities Guatemala might imagine and create in the years ahead — and what it means to lead with courage, curiosity, and purpose in moments of uncertainty and possibility.
